If you’re a woman who experiences back, neck, and shoulder pain, or are self-conscious about your large bust, you are not alone. Having too large of breasts is an issue that many people do not consider unless they are experiencing it. Bigger is not always better!
A breast reduction procedure not only focuses on appearance, but is designed to address common health concerns. Overly large breasts can affect your ability to do simple and necessary activities. They also can cause skeletal deformities, breathing problems, and poor posture - all of which can lead to serious long-term health issues. Breast reduction alleviates your painful symptoms, improves the shape of your breasts, and gives your freedom back.
How it works
This procedure is usually done under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis. Typically, the surgeon removes fat, glandular tissue and skin from the breasts, making them smaller, lighter, and more manageable. A breast reduction removes many of the milk ducts that lead to the nipples, which may hinder your ability to breastfeed. Overall, a breast reduction can give you the pain relief, attractive contour, and normalcy that you desire.
What to expect
Swelling and bruising is normal and typically reduces within the first few weeks. While some scarring may occur, the initial redness and size of your scars will lessen within nine to twelve months. It is recommended for patients to stay home from work for about a week following surgery.
