What are Juvéderm and Restylane?

Juvéderm and Restylane are dermal fillers that are used by cosmetic surgeons to plump up sagging skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Dermal fillers injected into precise locations on your face fill the gaps between the fibers that arise as a result of tissue loss during the aging process.

Juvéderm and Restylane contain hyaluronic acid, a natural substance produced in your body that keeps your skin plump and taut. As you age, your body produces less hyaluronic acid, collagen, and elastin, which all contributes to signs of aging like wrinkling and sagging skin. The hyaluronic acid in Juvéderm also aids the retention of water molecules in your skin, which further enhances the firming effect.

How are they administered?

The process is straightforward and you won’t need sedation or an anesthetic, although if you’re concerned about injections, you can have your skin cooled with gel or have a topical numbing cream applied to the injection sites.

Lisa injects the filler into your skin at the sites she’s marked on your face, carefully massaging the injection site to spread the filler into precisely the right areas. Once you’ve had the injections, you’re free to carry on with your day as normal, so there’s minimal disruption to your routine.

How quickly will I see the results of the treatment?

You’ll see the effects of your  treatment soon after the procedure, and as the process doesn’t involve having incisions made in your skin, you shouldn’t see more than slight swelling or inflammation for a day or two.

The effects of treatment with Juvéderm / or Restylane last  between six months and two years, depending both on you as an individual and the area being treated. You can have further treatments each year if you wish to maintain the results.
